Why You Should Work With The Same Brand Photographer More Than Once

A brand photo from my first brand photoshoot with an Austin Artist, establishing her as a professional artist and adding credibility to her as she launched a new brand/business.

Let’s talk photography monogamy.

You get your brand photos. You love them. You share them. You put them to work.

But then your business bestie shares some photos from her latest brand shoot with a different photographer, and OMG, they look SO good.

So you think, “Maybe I should try that photog out next time…”

I totally get it.

With so many wonderful photographers out there, it can be tempting to jump around and try every flavor, BUT if you’ve found a photographer that you love and vibe with, here are some very good reasons why you should stick with them for the long run.

1. Each new brand photoshoot is better than the one before.

Similar to first date jitters, the first time you met and got in front of your photographer’s camera, you probably felt a little uneasy. (Most of us feel that way when meeting someone new.) Maybe you held your tongue when you had a creative idea for the shoot or maybe you posed a little more stiffly than you normally would.

All of that is completely normal and okay – because your shoots will only get better from here.

With each new photoshoot, you and your photographer will become more comfortable with one another. You’ll get to know one another better and learn to trust one another more. That trust will lead to bigger risks as you open up and lean into your collective creativity.

As a brand photographer, I LOVE seeing the visual evolution of trust with my clients because what comes out of it is better and better imagery.

2. The process of working together continues to get more productive.

Booking with a new photographer can come with a learning curve – even with the most detail-oriented photographers who plan and prepare you for the next step. But when you continue to work with the same photographer, the process of working together becomes a well-oiled machine.

  • Booking is faster

  • Planning flows more fluidly

  • The photo shoot itself is easier.

Conversely, when you book with a new photographer, it’s like starting over again at square one.

3. Your brand images become more aligned with your goals.

A new photographer doesn’t know you. They’re new to your goals. They haven’t seen how far you’ve come. They haven’t witnessed your brand’s evolution so they can continue walking with you in the right direction.

Working with the same photographer that you have trusted in the past means working with someone who has watched your brand evolve. Their perspective will help you fill the gaps more easily with each consecutive shoot. The result is deeply branded images that align with your business goals.

4. Your overall brand image will simply feel more complete.

Different photographers have different styles – and while they may both be wonderful at their jobs – your brand will reflect an inconsistency by jumping from one to the next.

On the other hand, when you work with the same brand photographer again and again, you get to build out a complete photo bank for your brand that effortlessly works together. With consistency in photo edits and aesthetics, your overall brand image becomes its most cohesive – and cohesive brands build TRUST. Trust means working with more of your ideal customers and clients so that you can grow and scale your brand.

Is this the beginning of a beautiful relationship?

I say this all the time. If you find a great photographer you trust – stick with them. Each shoot only gets better, more productive, more aligned, and more complete. In the long run, you’ll be so glad you made the commitment.

And if you’re ready to start the relationship, I’d love for you to check out my storytelling brand photography experience for unapologetic creatives in Austin, TX.

I love watching brands evolve over the years, so I’ll do my part by guiding you through the process and in the direction of your goals.
